Videos
The criteria governing the inclusion or exclusion of videos to a given playlist are not especially objective. If I have not included a video that you think might be a suitable candidate for a playlist, it may be that (a) I am unaware of its existence (perhaps because it was only recently uploaded), (b) the label is inaccurate or misleading, or (c) I simply do not feel that the video's content satisfactorily exemplifies the piece in question. I do try to be as inclusive as possible, though, giving preference to videos that include bala playing. Initially I avoided adding videos with ill-suited advertising but since I now use the Firefox Adblock plus extension—which I highly recommend for a more enjoyable user experience—I have begun to include videos with advertising. I also include uploads that are essentially "audio only."
For the time being, the video selection is limited to YouTube videos only, though eventually, I do hope to add videos from other hosting services as well—Vimeo and Dailymotion, for example. The YouTube playlists are my own, compiled on the mandebala.net (torpeza) YouTube channel. If YouTube's embedded playlist player is unfamiliar to you, refer to YouTube help for a description of some of its unique features.
Temporarily, the videos that I had originally uploaded to correspond with the mandebala.net transcriptions have been removed. As was reported in the Dissertation Progress III blog entry, I am currently awaiting the opportunity to defend my dissertation. Once this is done, I intend to upload that work to the site. When this happens, a host of transcriptions—and also new videos—will additionally be uploaded. Please stay tuned.
